Shavings: When you have a rabbit kept in a cage or are using a littler box, you must know the right kind of shavings/litter to use. Cedar and Pine shavings should never be used! The fumes inhaled from cedar and pine shavings have a can cause health difficulties. Aspen shavings are a lot better to use and are safe. For litter boxes, you can use aspen but you may want to use kitty litter. If you use kitty litter, make sure it is dust free, organic, un-perfumed and paper based. Clay litter is not good to use because it tends to irritate the eyes and respiratory tract of rabbits. Clay litter can also be irritating to the GI tract if ingested.
