Rabbit Introductions

Tips on introducing rabbits to each other:

1. It helps a lot if both bunnies are spayed/neutered.

2. Put some treats in the neutral space for the bunnies to munch on.

3. Wear gloves in case you have to break up a fight.

4. Sit their cages next to eachother for the first couple of days so they can get used to eachother's scent.

5. Introduce them in a neutral area (an area that neither of them has been before) like a bathtub, tabletop, or on top of an active washer or dryer.

6. Put them together for about 10-30 minutes per day to start with and gradully increase their time together.

7. It is ok if they mount eachother if they are fixed and nobody is getting hurt.

8. If it's love at first sight, you can let them run around together alone but you shouldn't leave the house when they are together until you are SURE they will be ok with each other! You want to be there if they change their minds!

9. If they seem to be ok with eachother, let them run around with each other but monitor them closely until they start to like each other a little better.

10. If they fight, try spraying them in the face with some water. Introduce them in the neutral space every day until they get along.

11. If the fighting is completely vicious and merciless, put the cages of the two rabbits next to each other and wait a couple weeks to try again.

12. Don't put a male with a female until a couple of weeks after he has been neutered -- it may be possible for him to impregnate the female in this time period.

13. When you are trying to introduce them, stay away from the rabbits unless you are breaking up a fight.
