Frank Hopkins (Aragorn in Lord of the Rings movies, apparently) has no place to call home. He's half Native American and half 'white'. At this time in history, the white folk happen to be ravaging the Native American folk. Arggghh for Frank. Frank also likes to ride around on horseys and happens to be one of the best when it comes to long-distance racing. His horse is named Hidalgo, by the way. One day, these Arab guys approach him and ask him if he wants to be in this race across the desert (over near Iraq somewhere). It's a tradition that's been going on for a thousand years and the prize money is hefty. It's also extremely dangerous and it's common for half the entrants to perish. Well, since Frank doesn't really want to be around the mass-murdering Americans, he enters! Gee, will he win? I just don't know...I can only compare this to the last movie I saw, which was My Little Eye. Compared to that, Hidalgo was a world of vegan rabbit-lovers. Compared to the rest of the movies in existance, Hidalgo was only watchable. And the reason it was watchable was because it used a common action-adventure formula that appeals to 71% of Americans. Why did it get a Bad Bunny rating then? Because this other guy, who was also competing in the race, told his falcon to go kill this poor little hare so that he could eat it. That guy died later, too bad. Actually, Mr. Aragorn was about to shoot it so he's equally guilty. I guess most people view rabbits as merely something to shoot at. Copyright © 1999-2006 Larissa.
